Dr. Prakash Shankar guided the TANKER Awareness and Prevention Program (TAPP) team of TANKER Foundation screen 53 members of the general public at ActionAid India, Broadway, Chennai, Wednesday, March 18, 2026. Based on the outcomes, 12 high-risk individuals were referred to the nearest primary health centre for further medical evaluation.

Remarks: ActionAid India organised a camp at their office for the general public where 53 people participated.
The results showed that 20 individuals had elevated blood sugar and 16 participants had high blood pressure. Among them, the newly-detected cases of diabetes and high blood pressure were 11 and 9, respectively.
Additionally, 11 participants showed abnormalities in the urine test.
Based on the outcomes, 12 high-risk individuals were referred to the nearest primary health centre (PHC) for further medical evaluation and follow-up care.
The camp facilitated the early detection of health issues and helped raise awareness about the importance of managing diabetes and high blood pressure.
