Dr. Georgi Abraham, President & Founder-Trustee of TANKER Foundation, received the Dhanvantari Award for Lifetime Contribution at an event held in Patna on 26 September 2026.

The award was presented by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri Samrat Choudhary, in the presence of the Hon’ble Health Minister of Bihar, Shri Nishant. The Bihar Government’s Health Department lists Shri Nishant as the state’s Health Minister.

Book Release

The occasion also marked the release of Dr. Georgi Abraham’s book, Truth and Healing: Religion, Spirituality and Faith in Kidney Failure, by Hon’ble Health Minister Shri Nishant.

The book explores the role of religion, spirituality and faith in helping patients and families navigate the challenges associated with kidney failure. It brings together medical expertise with perspectives on the emotional and spiritual dimensions of living with kidney disease.

A Milestone in Kidney Care

Dr. Georgi Abraham has been associated with the advancement of nephrology and kidney care through clinical work, medical education, awareness initiatives and patient-support programmes.

As President & Founder-Trustee of TANKER Foundation, he has also contributed to the organisation’s efforts in dialysis support, kidney disease awareness, early detection and access to care.

The Dhanvantari Award for Lifetime Contribution marks an important recognition of his contribution to the field, while the release of Truth and Healing adds another dimension to the continuing conversation around the medical, emotional and spiritual challenges faced by people living with kidney failure.
