Thiruvottiyur unit In-Charge, Mr. Sathish Kumar, initiated a screening camp at El Bethel Church Ministry, Thiruvottiyur, Chennai, Sunday, February 8, 2026, that was conducted by the TANKER Awareness and Prevention Program (TAPP) team of TANKER Foundation. Dr. Kannabiran guided the TAPP team consisting of Mr. Guganathan – Area Manager, Ambattur Unit, Mrs. Ramapriya and Mrs. Bhuvana, and Thiruvottiyur unit team of Mr. Sathish Kumar, Ms. Sarojini, Ms. Shajana.

Remarks: The screening camp was referred by Mr. Sathish Kumar, Shift In-Charge of the Thiruvottiyur unit. The camp aimed to identify early signs of non-communicable diseases and promote preventive healthcare among the community.
The screening results showed that one participant had elevated blood sugar levels and three individuals were newly-detected cases.
It was of concern that 21 participants had high blood pressure and among them, 13 were newly-identified cases.
Following the urine test, two individuals were found to have protein in urine, and nine individuals showed urine glucose presence.
Regarding BMI, 32 individuals were found to have BMI greater than 25 (overweight).
Based on the screening outcome, 15 high-risk individuals were referred to the nearest primary health centre (PHC) for further medical evaluation and follow-up care.
